The city of Baker City, the seventeenth oldest town in
Oregon, officially became the County seat in June of 1868.
Located in Eastern Oregon with an abundance of historical sites and all the beauty and scenery that Mother Nature can provide. We have an abundance of Ghost Towns for the adventurous.
Gold panning and mining are also available for profitable family fun.

Baker County has some of the "best kept secrets" in Eastern Oregon. Anthony Lakes is a virtual paradise for skiers, hikers and snowmobilers.
The 225-mile Hells Canyon Scenic Byway is a series of connected routes which together provide access to Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.
The 106-mile Elkhorn Scenic Byway winds through the Elkhorn Mountains, rich in scenery, history, and recreational opportunities. You can find ample opportunities for fishing, camping, picnicking, boating, and hiking.
In Baker County, you can step into the time of the Oregon Trail by visiting the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. You can walk beside the still visible historic ruts of the Oregon Trail.
