- Co-op History
- The Baker Food Co-op began nearly thirty years ago in Baker City when a small group of people formed a "Buying Club" to provide for themselves a consistent supply of natural bulk foods at wholesale prices. Before long, the buying club occupied a small store on Court Street in downtown Baker City and began doing business as "Greater Baker Foods." Over the years, the cooperative has been incorporated and holds board meetings once a month. By-laws were drawn up stating our purpose:
- To provide high quality natural foods at low prices
- More recently, the Greater Baker Food Co-op has expanded to its present location on Tenth Street, where the Co-op continues to grow in membership, as we strive to offer an increasing variety of natural foods and products for our customers.
