Phillips Reservoir at bakercounty.net

Phillips Lake is a reservoir formed from damming the
Powder River at the 167 foot high Mason Dam.

The name of the dam was taken from Mason Siding, a landmark of the
historic Sumpter Valley Railroad.

At full pool, the lake is five miles long and has a surface area of 2,450 acres.

It is used primarily for irrigation and flood control.

Principal fish species found here are Rainbow trout, crappie, bass and perch.

This beautiful reservoir, located 17 miles Southwest of Baker City, offers a
rich opportunity for varied water sports; water skiing, boating, swimming and superb fishing.

Union Creek Campground, a Forest Service campground, provides both
trailer and tent sites, picnic areas, boat ramps and restroom facilities.

Interesting geological and historical sites can be found in the area as well.

Nordic ski and snowmobile trails around the lake, plus ice fishing, add to the winter fun.

In summer, swimming beaches are crowded with sun worshippers
as well as the ever-present fishermen.
