Miner’s Jubilee Medallion
Community Spirit Comes Alive in Baker, Oregon

Second in Series, the official Miners’ Jubilee Medallions are out. This bronze “community” medallion was the brain child of the Eastern Oregon Mining Association, Eastern Oregon Miners & Prospectors, and Baker County Chamber of Commerce. The medallion adds another fun facet to Baker’s most festive summer celebration , the Miners’ Jubilee, which happens the third weekend in July every summer. Grass-roots generated, this project uses local, home grown talent. The concept came from the miners and Chamber of Commerce. Harlow's Country Gallery and Gaia Resource teamed up to do the medallion design and art work.

The front side of the medallion pictures the Miners’ Jubilee icon, the miner and his Mule , and highlights Baker City, Oregon. The famous Baker County Armstrong Nugget, perched in the middle of Baker County, is on the backside of the medallion. The Armstrong Nugget is the first in the Baker County gold nugget series. This 80.4 oz nugget can be seen at the US Bank in Baker City, Oregon. Also, on the back of the medallion are the medallion sponsors and Jubilee supporters. There is a method to the design. The Sponsors represent the mining industry; precious metals , Flexible Mining Co; industrial Minerals, Ash Grove Cement Co; and the gravel industry, Triple C Redi-Mix, Inc. Spence Industrial Supply and Baker Gold & Silver take pride as mining support businesses. US Bank supports the miners and the community by donating prize money each year for the Oregon State Gold Panning Championships. Enthusiasm runs high for this community medallion, and sales are off to a good start. The medallion comes in bronze, and antique bronze. To add a collectable touch, a limited edition .999 silver medallion is also available in a flip pouch or 2 pc. box set, which comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Baker City was founded as a result of mining , becoming the county seat in 1868 and incorporated in 1874. It stands to reason celebrating the rich natural resource history in Baker County with a Miners’ Jubilee celebration, and Miners’ Jubilee Medallion . Medallions are redeemable at participating merchants during the jubilee. Proceeds from medallions sold and kept go back into the community, and are dedicated to making a bigger, better jubilee in the future. You can purchase the medallions in Baker City at US Bank and other participating merchants, the silver collector’s medallion at Baker Gold & Silver/Baker City Minting Company, (541) 523-2133. Look for US Bank and Baker Gold & Silver on Main Street in beautiful Historic Baker City, Oregon.
